This clever, integrated design is the product of two creative forces coming together with a single purpose, that being to create a unique vessel with a modern motor-yacht superstructure, an almost classical motor-sailing yacht hull and a high-tech rig. The result was guaranteed to turn heads and this, the 118-foot Sailing Yacht Merlin, has been doing that ever since her launch in 2010

Naval Architect, Ibrahim Karataş and his trademark style of marrying a classical hull design with an out-and-out modern superstructure design are once again in the spotlight with the entry of the motor-sailing yacht Merlin into the charter market. This yacht has a range of alluring features, carefully matched and harmonized through the dedication of both Ibrahim Karataş and the yacht's owner, an Istanbul-based architect whose nautical style signature is "low-fuss, high-function" and it works very well in creating an interior that's both relaxing and visually beautiful.

Merlin has a hydraulic pasarella which converts into a swim platform for easy access into the sea, and then stepping aboard, one is greeted by an expanse of teak which is the aft deck living area, complete with comfortable cushioned lounging area and dining table. Moving forward, the yacht has plenty of space on deck, including an amazing flybridge with private sunning area and panoramic views. Forward, is the sun deck and an additional small table with surround seating in the sun. The yacht's saloon has the attraction of an all-around view and will convert into a cool entertainment area, for watching films, listening to music or even dancing. Accommodation is for eight guests in four cabins, three of which are in the stern section of the yacht, and the fourth is accessed via the steps leading forward from the saloon which descend to the yacht's interior dining area.

The aft master cabin is very different in its layout, the king-size berth having been sunk into the surrounding walnut laminated tiered flooring in a neat and stylish way so as to offer stunning panoramic views out over the water. To the port side, is a cabin with two singles and an additional pullman berth. Directly opposite, is a standard double cabin. The forward VIP cabin, also a standard double, has exceptionally good headroom and in keeping with the other three cabins, is decorated in cherry-wood veneer. Defining each of the cabins is the quality of the imported fixtures and fittings, including state of the art ventilation and air conditioning systems and an individual ReelBox cinema system: and the abundance of storage space, the clever design of the en suite bathrooms and the excellence of the sound-proofing.

The yacht's professional galley is equipped to bring guests the best in Mediterranean and International cuisine, the yacht's chef offering A La Carte dining for up to two days out of seven. Merlin's crew of four is lead by a highly experienced charter captain. He is assisted by a first mate/engineer, who is also the water sports co-ordinator. A stewardess, who also happens to be a qualified kindergarden teacher, completes the four. The yacht's crew are all keen sailors, and guests can enjoy a comfortable sail aboard Merlin at whim.
