The imposing Mount Felci dominates the headland of the Aeolian island of Filicudi, a beautiful land hovering between tradition and modernity. Each of the centers of Filicudi is a tiny gem of rural beauty: Filicudi Porto, Valdichiesa, Pecorini, Pecorini a Mare, Canale and Rocca di Chiavoli. Only 250 people live in these settlements, but in summer this ancestral island hosts a crowd of tourists ten times its population.
The villages of Filicudi welcome cruisers with the quaint atmosphere of ancestral places where time seems to have stopped. Don’t miss:
- sunset at Stimpagnato, a scenic spot overlooking nearby Alicudi;
- the Neolithic village at Cape Capo Graziano;
- the grotto of Bue Marino, the largest in the Aeolian Islands;
- for diving enthusiasts, a visit with a certified guide to the underwater museum, where relics and finds from the time of Magna Graecia, Greece are on display;
- more active travelers can walk along the old trails and mule tracks that cross the island, climb to an altitude of 774 meters to the crater of Fossa Felci;
- beaches such as Le Punte, Pecorini Mare, Porto, Capo Graziano and the boulder of La Canna, which is said to grant wishes.
