Lipari is the largest and busiest of the Aeolian Islands and the main transportation hub of the region.
The island is famous for the obsidian quarries of Canneto and for the dramatic scenery that can be seen during the many walks on the panoramic headlands. In the distance, pumice caves give the surroundings a distinctive turquoise hue. The island also has many cultural attractions to enjoy on less sunny days, such as the Archaeological Museum, the Acropolis, the picturesque Belvedere di Quattrocchi, which overlooks the faralloni and Vulcano Island, and the fortified castle that rises dramatically from a steep cliff above the sea.
There are many secluded coves like the spiaggia di Vinci, a great place for snorkeling, and dreamy beaches like Bianca.
